WELCOME

A1 Firearms Training offers basics to advanced firearms training. A hands on “how to” course on how to properly mount, bore sight and dial in scopes/optics.  In addition to the course A1 does offer sighting in service for pistols and long guns.

MEET THE

INSTRUCTOR

Andre’ Woods-Certified Instructor

At the age of 4 years old Andre’ was introduced to guns by his grandfather.  He and his grandfather would make regular trips to the family farm in Hearne, TX, where he’d shoot.  His passion for guns has persisted since first shooting that little Ruger MK I .22 pistol.

Having a passion for the outdoors and the sport of shooting, Andre’, has committed himself to getting others involved into the sport of shooting. He has been teaching individuals to shoot for numerous years prior to becoming a Certified Instructor.

Andre’ years of experience encompasses competing at USPSA events, he’s the former President of the Tameri Chapter of the National African American Gun Association.  While serving Tameri he received Range Safety Officer certification through NAAG.  Andre’ is NRA certified Instructor. He is also a former Division-I student-athlete, competing in football and track while attending Vanderbilt University.

Basic Pistol Course

$100
  • Basic intro of firearms, firearms safety and pistol handling. The objective of the course is to familiarize each student with the 6 safety rules of firearms handling. Exhibiting the safety rules throughout the course is a priority during the Basic Pistol course, this will set the foundation for the future. Students will learn the fundamentals of marksmanship which will better prepare the student for the LTC shooting qualification. Avg. course time is 2 hours. 200 rounds of ammunition preferred. Learn the safety rules, exhibit proper and safe firearms handling and build a solid foundation utilizing the Fundamentals of Marksmanship

Defensive Pistol

$100
  • Course is a progression of the Basic Pistol course, basic shooting qualification is required. Should the individual not meet the qualifications for Defensive Pistol a Basic Pistol course will be substituted as a replacement course, funds paid for the Defensive Pistol course will be applied to the Basic Pistol course. The objective of the Defensive Pistol Course is to incorporate the safe pistol handling and fundamentals of marksmanship gained from the Basic Pistol course with more advanced skills. Skills that will be taught in Defensive Pistol will include reloading drills, drawing from holster and moving to cover and concealment. Course typically takes 3 hours, 200 rounds of ammunition required.

Fundamentals of Mounting and Sighting Optics/Scopes

$65
  • This course will teach you everything you need to know from unboxing to getting on the target. During this two hour course we will discuss proper mount/rings for your optic/scope, mounting the rings, proper eye relief, leveling the scope properly, bore sighting to get on paper and making adjustments to get dialed in. In addition to teaching the “how to” course I can also get your scope dialed in for a fee of $30. I will require your firearm and 10 rounds of ammunition.

Firearms Consult

  • For those purchasing a firearm for the first time the experience can be a bit overwhelming. In an effort to make the experience less overwhelming I can assist in the process. I will meet the client at a designated gun store and discuss your needs to better guide you through the decision making process.

LTC

$75
  • The course includes classroom coverage of the LTC laws, the required shooting test and all of the required paperwork. This is a 4-6 hours training course as required by state law.

Training Our Youth

  • This course is tailored to teach the youth how to safely handle firearms, focusing on the 6 rules of safety. Fundamentals of marksmanship will be a huge focus as we’re setting the foundation for the future shooter. Course will include the use of a .22 LR pistol and 100 rounds of ammo.

COMBO (Basic Pistol & LTC)

$150
  • The combo course offers our students to complete a Basic Pistol(Level I) and the LTC course in a one day course. By combing the two courses students receive a value added course at a discounted rate. The course curriculum focuses on 6 safety rules, the fundamentals of marksmanship and other skills critical to carrying daily. Course meets all requirements of the Texas Department of Public Safety. Course of fire described under Need To Know tab.
